Through our partnership with Olympic Connect, VOPIN’s Family Services: System of Care program has been able to meet families and individuals across Kitsap County in some of their most difficult moments, and walk alongside them with compassion, dignity, and care.
Since beginning this work, we have supported over a hundred unique people. In March and April alone, we have engaged and connected with 30 individuals, up from 25 in January and February. Behind that number are families facing eviction, parents trying to keep the lights on, individuals navigating court systems, caregivers searching for resources, and community members simply trying to make it through another day. Through the work of our Care Navigators, we have helped prevent evictions, pay off utility balances, support moves, provide essential supplies, and connect people to food, infant items, clothing, propane, and other urgent needs.
This work has never been only about forms, referrals, or funding. It is about presence. It is sitting with someone and listening, even at 10:00 p.m., after work hours, because they needed someone to hear them. It is encouraging someone not to give up when every door feels closed. It is accompanying clients to applications, court visits, appointments, and resource meetings so they do not have to face those moments alone.
This work is also deeply rooted in collaboration. We have partnered with community leaders, advocates, service providers, and neighbors who share the same commitment: making sure people get what they need when they need it most. Together, we have worked to remove barriers, build trust, and respond with care when families are in crisis.
At the heart of VOPIN’s Family Services: System of Care program is the belief that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, every family deserves support, and no one should have to navigate hardship alone. Through Olympic Connect, we have been able to live out that belief in real and practical ways: by showing up, donating our time and resources, listening deeply, advocating fiercely, and doing everything we can to help our community keep going.
We are honored to do this work in Kitsap County, and we remain committed to walking with our families, our elders, our youth, and our neighbors with compassion, humility, and hope.
