John Perkins III

John Perkins III

As a child of an extended family united by service and education, John Perkins graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with degrees in Geology and Anthropology. Given an option in his last year as an undergraduate, to give something back to the schools he grew up in, he dove in head first, spending 15 years as a science and history teacher in inner city schools in Los Angeles. Upon moving to Washington, he has continued his focus on educational equity for all students.   Spending two years teaching on behalf of the Port Gamble S'klallam tribe, John endeavored to understand the full effect of the pandemic and it's after effects for students in underrepresented populations. He continues to champion real solutions to the challenges of our modern world.

When not teaching, John spends his time with his two sons,  playing games, doing creative projects, and writing.  He has a particular interest in the history of innovation across cultures, constantly wanting to understand how we got from there to here.
